The Lagoas route, in Ponte de Lima, provides a link between the town and the Silvareira Creek, in Fontão. We begin this section on the right bank, near the Roman-Gothic bridge. We pass by the statue of Decius Brutus facing the soldiers on the opposite bank, meant to recreate the legend of the River Lethe (oblivion). According to the legend, the Roman soldiers refused to cross the river, fearing the loss of their memory. Decius Brutus crossed the river and called each soldier by name, proving that his memory remained intact. As we move on, we catch sight of the historic centre and the avenue of sycamores, and right before the new bridge, we find the Nautical Club and the International Garden Festival. We head to Bertiandos, one of the entryways to the Protected Area of the Bertiandos and S. Pedro d’Arcos Lakes. This is an area of great importance for nature conservation and biodiversity. Moving along, the ecotrail veers slightly away from the margin of the river, in search of the crossing of the Estorãos River, a tributary of the Lima River. It continues until the Silvareira Creek, at which point the ecotrail enters the lands of Viana do Castelo.
