Exit by the Tapada Grande dam wall and at the end, go up to the right. Follow the road, through the carob tree fields with the hills topped by quartzite rocks, to Monte do Guiso, rest and drink some water. Go back slightly, pass by a huge lake and several Alentejo pig farms, towards the ruins of Monte Vale Travesso. Admire the typical mud and adobe construction in the ruins. Continue through underbrush and vegetation and cross the ribeira da Cabeça de Aires stream where the Tapada Grande reservoir begins. Go around it to it’s river beach and enter the village of Mina de São Domingos, which is worth a visit.
