This stage leads from Outeiro to Pitões das Júnias, covering about 9 km between these two Barroso villages. The whole route follows rural paths and tracks alongside the left bank of the Beredo River and against the backdrop of the Gerês mountain range.
The route reveals a landscape marked by huge mirror of waters that form the Paradela reservoir and by the dark lime greens. The way leads to the bucolic Beredo oakwoods, the ‘silha dos ursos’ (defence against bears) and wolf trap at Portela da Fairra, the famous waterfall of Pitões das Júnias and the surprising route into the village of Pitões das Júnias itself, where one of the most beautiful photographs of the National Park waits to be taken! The scenery is in fact unique, with the patchwork of cultivated fields arranged around the village having in the background the stark granite peaks of the Gerês mountain range.
