This stage extends between the mountain villages of Ermida and Fafião, covering a distance of about 9 km. The route divulges some specific facets of this area of the Gerês mountain range, its communities, culture and heritage, but above all the wonderful scenery and intimate contact with the mountains that it provides. The most remarkable moments are provided by the crossings of the rivers Arado (Rajada Bridge and waterfall), Conho (Servas Bridge) and Fafião (Pigarreira Bridge), Cilhas viewpoint, the track alongside the granite cliffs, the mixed woodland at Tribela with the unexpected "Doctor's House", reaching Pinhô corral and, already at the end of the stage, the beautiful Fojo do Lobo de Fafião wolf trap. The route is set in a mountain environment with no intermediate support services. Be sure to be properly provisioned before starting the walk. In both villages there are basic services, accommodation and restaurants. In Fafião be sure to visit the Barroso Ecomuseum centre, dedicated to the theme of "Vezeira e a Serra", and through which the local community has been disseminating information concerning its culture and heritage, an initiative that has contributed greatly to the preservation of local identity.
