Lisbon, known as the city of the seven hills is the great gateway to Section 9 and provides unique and unforgettable experiences for those who visit it. From Baixa to the castle, not forgetting the historic districts, Belém or Parque das Nações, there are many mandatory places to visit.
The route follows the river by the cycle path to Cruz Quebrada where we suggest proceeding by train to Carcavelos while admiring the landscape. Afterwards, the path continues along the side road passing by the charming village of Cascais and Boca do Inferno to Guincho Beach, with the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park as the background.
Then we suggest a visit to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of the European continent located 100 metres above the Atlantic Ocean and then continue along the road which runs through the Sintra Mountains. Apart from the romantic village of Sintra, here there are many places worth visiting such as the castle, the palaces, the farms and the parks, an ensemble which is so valuable that it has been classified as a world heritage site in the cultural landscape category. The route of Section 9 continues towards the Ocean to end at Azenhas do Mar.
