This mainly flat route takes you through Monte Gordo, Altura and Manta Rota, coinciding with the EuroVelo 1 as far as the picturesque village of Cacela Velha. It is a small and charming, but historical site, and it’s worth taking the time to explore it thoroughly. When the tide is out, you can walk across the ria to the beach. If the tide is in, you can get to the coast on little boats findable at Fábrica beach. The ride back to Vila Real de Santo António takes you through the country villages of Fonte Santa and Ribeira do Álamo, and also through the Castro Marim wetlands.
