GR40 - Caminho Português Interior de Santiago – Etapa de Nisa
Alentejo Feel Nature
This route is a section of the Portuguese Way of St James (Caminho Português Interior de Santiago). This connects the county of Crato to Vila Velha de Ródão. It crosses, in large, a soft plateau, by olive groves and cork oak, where they graze sheep and cattle. Cross Alpalhão, with its built patrimony. Continue for a few more kilometres up to the Chapel of S. Lourenço, then follow the hills until you descend to the Ribeira de Nisa stream. Here, the terrain is more uneven and the hill gives way to eucalyptus and pine trees. We pass alongside the Serra de São Miguel. And we descend to the Tagus River and the magnificent landscape of the Ródão Doors (Portas de Ródão).
