The route between Ermida and Germil passes across the western area of the Serra Amarela, within a mountain environment. Apart from the facilities at the start and end of the stage, there are no other services along the route. Be sure to be well provisioned before you start.
Starting from the Ermida Viewpoint, from where the magnificent landscape of the Froufe Valley can be seen, the walk leads downhill towards the Carcerelha Bridge which crosses a mountain stream with crystalline lagoons, set in a deep valley, an area frequented by canyoning enthusiasts and home to birds of prey.. There is then a steep climb on a path leading up to the summit of Giadela, where the stage reaches its highest point (704 m). Further ahead it is possible to see, located on the left bank of the Germil River, the Germil Wolf Trap, which bygone generations used to drive wolves into after hunting them. Finally, the trail crosses Chão da Ponte brook and shortly after leads into Germil, a rural settlement framed by a magnificent formation of terraces.
