The northern region comprises the last two sections of the Eurovelo Route 1 - Atlantic Coast Route. Two relatively easy courses at relatively low elevation. Along this route we can find some of the most beautiful coastline landscapes of this region of Portugal. The built heritage, including the windmills, masseira fields, watermills and fortified settlements (castros), provide landscapes of great scenic and environmental value. This route also takes in expanses of sand and dunes, pine woods and forest areas, hills and fossil cliffs, rivers and sea, everything accommodated in a dynamic equilibrium.
