Grande Rota da Ria de Aveiro - Percurso Dourado / Walking
This stage is essentially dominated by the overwhelming presence of Pateira de Fermentelos, the largest natural lagoon in the Iberian Peninsula. But before you reach its shores, still in Sangalhos, do not miss the unique opportunity to visit the Aliança Underground Museum, so called precisely because it is an underground museum. In its cellars, side by side, there are sparkling wines and brandies in temporal stage and nine permanent collections that deal with subjects as varied as archaeology, ethnography, mineralogy or ceramics. The stage then heads north, crossing a series of small settlements, either by municipal roads, dirt or forest roads, until it approaches the Cértima River, which will accompany it to its mouth, roughly next to the Carreiro Velho River Park, a beautiful and pleasant natural and leisure area with all the necessary infrastructure to spend a good time. It continues, along the west bank of Pateira, following a path on the border between the fields of Fermentelos and the riparian vegetation that precedes the waters of the large lagoon. The stage then heads southwest, crossing eucalyptus producing forests, villages and cultivated fields, and visiting the Oiã Main Church before approaching the town of Palhaça.
