The route begins alongside the old Customs House at Vila Real de Santo António, a city with a privileged location: the mouth of the Guadiana River to the east, the beach to the south, pine groves to the west and the Sapal de Castro Marim to the north. From Vila Real de Santo António it continues in the direction of Monte Gordo, Altura and Manta Rota - an area of lakes with significant ecological value. In the district of Tavira, the route passes close to the villages of Santa Luzia and Luz de Tavira before continuing through Olhão, a town known for its history and architecture, as far as Faro.
