This stage connects Caldas do Gerês with the village of Ermida passing through the midst of the Gerês mountain range following along the old trails that the shepherds used when taking their livestock up to the mountain pastures. Along barely more than 9 km the route affords very different landscapes and experiences, bringing to light some of the testimonies to the reality of life here as told by Tude Martins de Sousa and Miguel Torga, two illustrious authors who fell in love with the Gerês mountain range.
After passing Fonte de Azeral the route follows the Currais Trail (a short, waymarked PR). The highlight of the stage is undoubtedly the walk through the corrals of Lomba do Vidoeiro and Carvalha das Éguas. Also noteworthy are the opportunities to visit Arado waterfall and climbing the Miradouro das Rocas viewpoint. The route ends in Ermida, an upland community with strong links to the mountain and its resources.
