Starting from Carreiras, we climb the slope of the Serra de São Paulo. With magnificent views, appreciated from the Viewpoint/ Fonte dos Carvoeiros Picnic Park. Livestock is the main activity, so the company of cattle is not surprising. The tree cover is dominated by black oak and cork oak, and accompanied by the olive tree, the chestnut tree and the pine tree. We point out the hill agrarian system, constituted by an oak (Quercus pyrenaica) or a mix of this with the cork oak. Part of the route is based on a medieval path that linked Portalegre to Castelo Vide.
