It is on this route that the Zêzere river achieves its full splendour, on the famous Zêzere “curves” or meanders, listed by Unesco as a geosite. On the horizon are some of the most beautiful landscapes to be seen anywhere on the Zêzere Grand Route - the quartz throat, Janeiro de Cima and Janeiro de Baixo, the Serra do Machialinho and dinosaur footprints. Although the focus is primarily on the river, the gaze wanders through myriad mountains: the Gardunha and Estrela ranges, the mountainous quartzite alignments of the Serra do Muradal, the Góis rocks and the granite ranges of Açor, Lousã and Cabeço Rainha.
